Neurodegeneration
Our deep understanding of visual system function puts us in a powerful position to analyze how visual function is affected by neurodegenerative disease and aging. Of particular interest are genes associated with Parkinson’s Disease, as well as a novel pathway that links the biosynthesis of specific, rare lipids to synaptic vesicle production, work that sheds light on certain retinopathies in humans. Our hope is that these studies will inform new the development of new therapeutic strategies. |
